COMMENTS: Sheaffer's
Targa saw production from 1976 through the
end of the 1990s and offered a hefty range of finishes. The Laque
finishes are on the upscael end of things. The nib is fine point.
Converter included, noting Sheaffer
converters are getting bit difficult to score. This one looks like it
should have been a Ronce, but I think it was called just Gray Marble. |

COMMENTS:
The for-Levengers first series featured
translucent/transparent "Seas" colors, and the second
series had palladium trim. Sheaffer manufactured the Levenger variants
from 1998-2001 or so. All pens have solid gold nibs, with those
found with the Levengers second series having a white finish.
Grand Connaisseur has two-tone gold nib. As a Levenger's viersion this
should have the white-tone solid gold 14k nib. This one includes however a two-tone Sheaffer nib usually seen with Grande Connaisseur These are cartridge/converter filling, and converter is included with this one, these days a $20 value . |

COMMENTS: Legacy
really is a legacy, bringing into modernity the form of Sheaffer's
vaunted PFM (1959-1963+), Legacy was released in 1996, featuring what
appears to be a Touchdown filling system though featuring an internal
converter activated via Touchdown-like action. Later pens would see
conventional cartridge/converter. All here have the more appealing
pseudo-Touchdown system. This laquer-finish green with brushed
gold-plated cap is one of the early Legacy pens, from around
1996. The lightly used fountain pen writes a fine line. These are getting a bit tough to find. |

5 | 3965 | Diamond Pattern Gold-plated (1970s) Extra Fine condition with light wear and with couple edge dings (just a hint of blunting at edges of barrel bottom. Ultra
fine point that is a bit toothy (picked up on writing testing for this
list). Might be the finest point modern Sheaffer I've handled,
but probably would benefit from a nib-meister. Takes
cartrdige/converter but lacks converter. If I find one or buy a few
more I'll amend this ad. Anyway, if this one had smooth point and
converter and had slightly more crisp condition it would run $180 or
so. Figure $110 as is, and you can send it to the nib guys. If it
doesn't fly off the shelf, I'll likely send it out in January for a nib
tweak. Solid gold nib. |

COMMENTS: The three Moire colors are amongst my favorite for TARGA. Requiring 14 coats of translucent lacquer on metal guilloche, these sparkle. COMMENTS: Lady Sheaffer flies a bit under the radar, overshadowed by general era cohorts, Imperial and Targa. It is a solid pen of metal construction with various finishes (often fragile) applied to the metal. This one is unused. It has the better of the two nib-styles-- The mini-Triumph-- in this case. I believe a wide range of finishes can be found, though I do not focus on this series. This is the first I've had in silver-tone metallic with a gold-tone incuse basket-weave pattern of sorts. Very pretty pen. Nib is medium point palladium-silver. Takes cartridge/converter but lacks converter now. I likely can track one down for you for additional $15. |

COMMENTS: Lady Skripsert dates to 1959, a contemporary to the Snorkel, PFM and Lady Sheaffer. Of sound metal construction, these cartridge/converter pens offered a outre' styling relative to Sheaffer's generally more conservative fare. The moire (?) pens with girdle of brilliants (diamond like non-diamonds) reside by the top of the ol' cachet pyramind. This one has no dents. From (?) shop-wear there are lots of lateral lines running about he pen revealing brighter-still metal beneatt the white pearlescent coating. Still a clean pen, it is marked down well from the $150--or-so I'd ask for a minty example with perfect coating. A cartridge can be provided for additional $15. |

COMMENTS: Lady Sheaffer flies a bit under the radar, overshadowed by general era cohorts, Imperial and Targa. It is a solid pen of metal construction with various finishes (often fragile) applied to the metal. This one is part of a collection of five mint pens in patterns I've never seen before. I am told these represent true prototypes (though the lines sometimes are painfully blurry amongst "prototype", "low run" and "hey it just must be rare if I've never seen one"). This one has gold point of the upturned/buried variety (not "Triumph"). Neat item for one who seeks something unusual from late 1950's Sheaffer. Includes "aero"-style converter. Also takes cartridges. This one had no nib assembly (a raw shell) when I found it. I have fitted it with a mint (stickered) nib assembly. The sticker makes for a snug fit, so don't force closed the pen (keep capped loosely) or do remove the section sticker. |

I am told these represent true prototypes (though the lines sometimes are painfully blurry amongst "prototype", "low run" and "hey it just must be rare if I've never seen one"). This very unusual "organic" pattern appears to be done via a layering of black enamel over gold-tone metal, with the black then randomly abraded (miniature ice-cream scoop?) revealing bacterial blots of gold. Neat item for one who seeks something unusual from late 1950's Sheaffer. Takes cartridge/converter, and I have fitted this one with a mint converter. |

COMMENTS: The metal Imperials are quite upscale variants of the humble plastic pens first introduced in the early 1960's. Most of these fancy variants date to 1970's-1980s. Masterpiece is done in solid 14k gold. The Touchdown-filling Masterpiece does date to the early-mid 1960's, I believe. |
