I'm pleased to
offer a remarkably useful fountain pen storage/travel case. This
leatherette hard-back case features on each side of the hinge two
gray display trays- the best color for pen presentation. A bit more
than 5.5" long, these trays can hold Parker Vacumatic Maxima,
Waterman Patrician and Sheaffer Snorkel ( a surprisingly long pen) with
ease. The rare longer pen simply requires placing cap in one slot
and the barrel in a second. The overall thickness of the case- 2 inches- is such that unlike many similar appearing but thinner 32-pen cases, OS pens can be placed on both sizes without bumping pens upon closure of the case. Each case has a rest-flat handle to allow easy transport. These measure 14" by 12.25" including handle. Note that this is a smaller footprint than one obtains using 2 of the more prevalent 32-pen units, as those smaller cases have a black pad at the end of each tray, wasting space. I can put more pens in carry-on luggage using these 64-pen cases than by using twice the number of 32-pen units. |
Six
cases resting on the bed. Easy storage of 384 pens has its
charms. I've used many different storage units during the last 9
years. The perpetual quest for the perfect solution perhaps will never
end (i guess that's what perpetual means!). Still, with leather and nylon soft-back cases squishing fragile old plastic pens together and having risk for further compression should items in luggage push against them, I have grown fond of efficient hard-back cases. |
Another view of the cases. Sturdy handles rest nearly flat against the case. My roll-on luggage can handle four of these stacked, still with room above for either slotter boxes or a 32-pen case for extra storage. Getting 256 pens on a plane in just one piece of luggage via the 4 cases, with plenty room remaining for squeezing in smaller storage units, is a pleasure. |
And...It's
off to the pen lunch I go, doing the two finger, 256-pen dance.
Always nice when someone in NYC meets me for sushi and
show-n'-tell. Each case will cost $100, with additional $12 shipping via heavy grade USPS box (darn boxes cost $3 each). Hit one of the contact links on this page (top or bottom) or drop email by pasting isaacson@frontiernet.net into your email. |
