A classic Pelikan in superb condition with "monster" nib. Terrific
writer able to do fine cross strokes with broad to nearly triple broad
downstrokes without beating up the nib. If the pen loiters, perhaps

Comments:
Neat piston-fill clutch-cap MB with stylized nib shape that might even
channel the Chilton Wingflow. Clean pen. Marked for medium point,
it writes a fine-medium line at rest but will smoothly flex up to
medium-broad. Nothing crazy, but still a really nice writer. |

COMMENTS:
Big brother to the 140, the
400NN, the more streamlined version of the
earlier-in-1950s 400, offered a bit more "oomph" than
the 140. These measure 5 1/4", 13.2 cm. The
400NN
is a bread-and-butter vintage
Pelikan. The three basic colors are green,
Tortoise, and
Black in ascending rarity. Other more exotic
colors do turn up. These
often pack exotic points, allowing for high flex and
more frequently
found oblique and stub than are found with USA_made
pens during the
1950s. LEFT to RIGHT:s |

COMMENTS: The basic high-quality Pelikan from the
1950's. Smidge shorter than the 400 and 400NN, but of
similar quality and still with solid gold nibs (unlike
the 120). Often found with brassing to the cap-band
but also often found with "monster" nibs. This one has typical "Excellent except for cap-band brassing" appearance. Clip and barrel are superb. Cap-band is brassed. Impressive Flex ranging from a fine-medium with light touch to broad+ with pressure. |

Cartridge/Converter. Solid 14k 2-tone gold nib.
Interesting pen, one I only recently encountered.
Think of this as Pelikan's answer to the Parker 75 and
the Sheaffer Targa, though production era for Celebry
was later, 1995-2007. Several trim tiers were
offered. The 590 is near the top of the food chain,
with gold-plated cap and gripping section. The
color is Venetian Red. Tag suggests Medium point
though to my eye this is on the broad side of medium. |

COMMENTS:
Pelikan's
belated answer to the Sheaffer Targa and Parker 75.
These elegant slender Pelikans, cartridge/converter
fill, with solid gold nibs, offer a nice range of
lacquer and metal finishes, with models ranging from
the P560 to P596. Pens measure 5 5/8", 14.3cm
closed. Nearing a decade out of production. Four colors can be found for the lacquer finish barrels paired with either matching caps or gold-plated caps in the P 580 model and 590 model, respectively: Emerald Green, Venetian Red, Agate Black and Sapphire Blue. 580, 590, 595 and 596 had similar gold-plated gripping section and two-tone solid gold nib. The pens offered here are from the upper end of the model range, 580 with colored caps and barrels , 590s with gold plated cap, plated (rhodium?) all-steel 595 and all-gold-plated 596. All of these have gold nibs. Lower tier models not included in this offering include steel nibbed 570, 565 and 560, which also have more humble trim. All the pens in this group are at worst in near-mint condition, likely having met ink but otherwise perfect. All have tags, though the Emerald 590 has only a partial tag. All nibs are nice and responsive two tone 14k. All are medium point save for the Emerald 580 which has broad piont. All pens have the same gold-plated grip, as shown with the open all gold-plated pen. LEFT to RIGHT:s |

COMMENTS: Sort of
an M400 version of the M600-related M625. Why this is
"20" and not "25"? No idea. It has the
sterling/rhodium-at-both-ends thing going for it.
Apparently this was a 1 year (2004) product, predating
the M625. Deep blue barrel with
rhodium-plated-sterling makes for an elegant
cocktail. Unlike the 625, the 420 does not have
an entirely translucent barrel, but rather an ink-view
window near the threads. Nib is two-tone 18-C. |
