COMMENTS: TThe PFM series is the oversized pen which employed Sheaffer's vaunted snorkel-filling mechanism. Usually nice writers, these are a terrific choice or he who seeks a big gripping area. The tapered shell and lack of a step-off allow for very comfortable writing. The PFM IV actually is rare today than PFM V (perhaps those willing to spend for a fancy model, were willing to spring a bit more to get the all gold-filled cap). This one has couple very shallow small dings only at flat portion at top of cap. It is rendered "User Grade" by a crack in the filling knob at back of pen. When I manage to track down a spare, the pen will then be priced at $360. Marked discount for imperfect pen. Very nice writer. |

COMMENTS: The Thin Model (TM) Snorkel introduced in 1952, gave the Parker "51" quite the run for the money. Vermilion is one of the six colors of high-cachet, probably more scarce than Fiesta and Mandarin. Vermilion is found only in non-White Dot models. This one has a number of stress cracks (hairlines, in parallel) running near front of barrel. Discounted from usual $250+ "excellent" price. |
Pen 3446: Esterbrook Purse Pen Pair $100
From Vacumania's Basement |
|||
Comment: Estie pastel Purse Pens are popular with collectors. The white pen is pretty clean, and is popular with collectors, though without red jewels I believe this does not qualify as a "Nurse's Pen". The dark yellow (less common than light yellow) has multiple hairline/stress cracks in cap lip. Unrestored. No function warranty. Basement pens. |
Pen 3447: Five Sheaffers $160
Marine Marbled Balance Standard and 4 1950 Sheaffer Admirals. All with 14k Nibs. |
|||
COMMENTS: Priced about at Nib Value. Some might fill. All have intact gold Sheaffer nibs. The Marine Green Balance would run >$200 alone in excellent restored condition. Has name in barrel and some wear. Some of the Admirals with toothmarks as shown. Practice your resacing, nib adjustment and so forth, with five vintage gold-niibbed Sheaffers. One black pen looks to have a sprung clip. Unrestored. No function warranty. Basement pens. |
Pen 3448: 3 Sheaffer Fountain Pens $100
FROM VACUMANIA'S BASEMENT. |
|||
COMMENTS: Slender Flat-top in black celluloid from 1920's, Marine Green Striated ladies pen, lever filler, clean trim, personalization of barrel as seen in picture. Black Sheaffer Sentinel Tuckaway, nice lean Triumph two-tone gold nib. All pens with gold nibs. No doubt has some dings. Practice your resacing, nib adjustment and so forth. Unrestored. No function warranty. Basement pens. |
Pen 3449: Sheaffer Imperial and Compact $115 SOLD
From Vacumania's Basement |
|||
COMMENTS: The two black Imperials are cartridge/converter. The gray Compact- somewhat popular today probably for those clear barrel windows, is cartridge only, though I have vague recollection Ron Zorn might have tracked down some extra-short converters that can fit. All with triumph nib gold points. Converters not included with this bunch. 3 gold nibs. Unrestored. No function warranty. Basement pens. |
